Our choice of tape at Tairin Wheels, tested for a year and ready to order.
Made of polyester/silica PET, designed to last and withstand extreme conditions temperature, pressure, and chemically wise.
 
Fused with a pressure activated adhesive of 1.2kgf/25mm² once taped to the rim, the hulk stays and lasts through 30+ tire changes and does not deteriorate or absorb sealant for up to 2 years. Does not leave any residue when peeled, and does not pull carbon finish.
 
We choose its thickness at 60um (micrometer, 2.36 mil) for better manipulation. Some rims might require going around twice, but all Tairin rims only require 1 loop taping.
 
All rolls come with 33 meters length, enough to tape 16 wheels (29er/700c) approx. With 4 widths: 18mm/22mm/25mm/30mm/35mm.
 
Recommended tape to rim internal widths:
18mm width tape:
-For most road rims 18~22mm internal width. 
-For carbon MTB rims with tire channel design, only needs to cover the nipple holes on the rim bed, and does not need to cover from wall to wall. (23~30mm rims)
 
22mm width tape:
-For road rims designed with tire channel, 18mm~20mm internal width.
-For carbon MTB rims with tire channel design, only needs to cover the nipple holes on the rim bed, and does not need to cover from wall to wall. (30~40mm rims)
 
25mm width tape:
-For disc road rims designed with tire channel, 20mm~25mm internal width.
-For MTB rims of 25mm internal width, edge to edge coverage
 
30mm width tape:
-For MTB rims of 30mm~35mm internal width, edge to edge coverage
 
35mm width tape:
-For MTB rims of 35mm+ internal width, edge to edge coverage 
 
Application method:
Tape has slight stretch, it's recommended to pull the tape when taping down to achieve a "food plastic wrap" tight finish. Making sure that the surface to be taped is as clean as possible.
