**Sept 2023 - The Silent version of the Shogun is here!**
With 4 years in the making, we are finally releasing the silent version for the current Shogun MK4, made possible through our research and development testing of different silent clutches. Culminating with a clutch platform developed from the core mechanism of the S1 project, based on a very simple but thoughtful patent pending design.
The added silent clutch pairs perfectly with the Shogun's Indexed Wedge system. And in addition to the silence, this version introduces the Floating Engagement Index (FEI) system to the Shogun, where the hub is 5.5 degrees from engagement every time you re-engage the drivetrain from freewheeling-coasting.
The FEI is designed to smooth out the effects of pedal kickback on your suspension.
The Silent Shogun is still as reliable and robust as the original Shogun.
From our original Shogun:
The Shōgun rear hub is set to push all standards with its high reliability and virtually no mantenience. Convertible between most axle standards, we have 2 base models:
- Standard Shogun that can be converted between: 12x142mm, 10x135mm and boosted with a kit to 12x148mm
- Boost Shogun (native at 12x148mm) convertible to 10x141mm and that can be Superboosted to 12x157mm with SB kit here
Designed with strength and durability as the key characteristics, the Shogun engagement mechanism consists of 6 pawls that rotate to lock in place like sprags, and engage all pawls simultaneously to make sure there is no slippage, featuring 96 points of engagement for a fast 3.75 degree indexed engagement when run as a ratcheting hub, and 5.5 degree floating engagement when run as a silent hub.
The Shogun features 3 lip seals. On the ratchet, and on each end of the axle to prevent contaminants that wear down bearings prematurely.
It can be built for wheels from Cross Country, All Mountain, Enduro, DH, Dirt Jump, Trials, and most disciplines in between, so long as the axle is compatible to your frame.

Disclaimer: Because of the nature of the silent hub's pawl disengagement, one might sometimes hear a clicking or popping sound when re-engaging the hub (while freewheeling or at standstill). This is the Index Wedge pawls pushing against the drive ring and self-aligning. It does not cause wear and is per design. As the parts wear-in, the frequency and tone will fade.
